Unified Communications and Remote Work for the Hellenic Halyvourgia

The Hellenic Halyvourgia is one of the largest steel products manufacturing industries in the Balkans. Since its establishment, it has supported all major infrastructure projects in the country, while also maintaining a significant export presence. Focusing on the industrial production units in Magnesia, Hellenic Halyvourgia has facilities in Attica as well as a very wide commercial network throughout Greece.

The continuous development and modern demands of the global market create new needs in the Group’s communications. The modernization of call centers to support new technologies, the operation as a single communication system, the easy expansion and the existence of remote users were the main needs that came to the fore. Barphone, with many years of experience in the telecommunications industry and a specialized team of consultants and engineers in unified communications, was called upon to design and implement the project to upgrade the Group’s telecommunications infrastructure.

Avaya IP Office, Avaya SBCE and Avaya IX Workplace were the solutions that covered the above needs. With Avaya IP Office, a modern solution that marries traditional telephony with new technologies, makes the call center easily expandable. At the same time, Avaya SBCE ensures the secure connection of the IP Office to the internet, while the Avaya IX Workplace application enables the transfer of the phone to the office either to the mobile or to the computer wherever the employee is, as long as he has access to the internet.

 

The gradual and program-based replacement of call centers in the Group’s various facilities played a major role in the design and implementation of Barphone’s proposal. This fact allowed the Group to smoothly implement its infrastructure upgrade plan without interrupting its operation.

With the successful completion of the implementation, the following were achieved:

  • the most direct communication of the Group’s employees regardless of their physical workplace, saving time and resources
  • the possibility for users to have their office phone also outside the physical space
  • the possibility of ascertaining, over time, the real needs for external telephone lines so that the necessary future plans can be made.
